Vita Foundation Grant to train Volunteer Community Contacts from Queensland Regions

Sands has received a grant from the Vita Foundation to train Volunteer Sands Community Contacts from targeted Queensland communities.

This role includes being able to introduce Sands and our support options to newly bereaved parents in your community, including at Sands community events such as our Walks to Remember. You could also play a role in liaising with local hospitals to ensure they are aware of Sands supports and promoting supportive care practices.

We're running a one-day training at Sands House in Brisbane on Saturday 25 May. Thanks to Vita Foundation, we have a budget to subsidise travel for two volunteers from each of Cairns, Townsville, Bundaberg and Toowoomba.

Volunteers who complete this foundation training could also go on to complete training to become a phone or online parent supporter.

There's no magic formula or qualification you need to apply, but rather we're looking for a unique set of qualities (empathy, compassion) combined with lived experience. If you think you've got what we are looking for, or know someone who does, we would love to hear from you - https://www.sands.org.au/get-involved/volunteers
