The funded research will evaluate different bereavement support modalities by exploring and comparing peer support, professional counselling and a combination of both modalities as effective tools in supporting bereaved families after the death of a baby or child, including termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly. The findings from this study will inform best practice bereavement support services at Red Nose.

The study, which would be expected to include a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, will measure and evaluate the different service delivery models by conducting client surveys and interviews, and Red Nose can provide data on bereaved families consenting to participate in research from our database of service users. Included in this would be a requirement for a brief literature review on current best practice.
