Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria, working together with Sands, have produced a special memorial certificate by which Victorian parents can remember their babies lost before 20 weeks gestation.

The early pregnancy loss commemorative certificate will provide parents with recognition of their baby's life, helping them to actualise their loss and acknowledge the grief of that little life lost.

Sands' Western Australian State Coordinator, Till Heike, designed the beautiful certificate artwork. It uses watercolours on birchwood and features a pair of helmeted honeyeaters, Victoria’s state bird, perching amongst the state flower and other native plants.

Till spoke to The Age about her inspiration and her hopes for the many Victorian parents who will finally feel seen and heard in their grief.
