Sands Western Australia is a not for profit organisation that relies on funding from within the community and business sector, as we offer our support services for free, utilising the time, heart-felt generosity and willingness of our volunteers. Sands Western Australia host a variety of events, support groups, coffee mornings, a Candle Lighting Ceremony and a Walkathon during the month of October as close as possible to the date of October 15th and also memorials.

Management Committee

Meet once a month. Sands Western Australia is managed by a committee of bereaved parents who have the task of ensuring that the organisation runs smoothly by raising funds, applying for grants, publicity, arranging in-service education for health professionals and general administration.

Volunteer Parent Supporters

Are bereaved parents 'further down the track' in their grief. These parents have undertaken a grief management training course. Support workers are trained listeners and are available for hospital and home visits and for telephone support.

Sands Western Australia support workers are aware that some parents have other issues and traumas in their family life aside from the death of their baby. Support workers can refer on to other appropriate organisations or agencies if necessary.

You can get involved in the Sands Western Australia community by becoming a member - please follow the three steps below:

2. After completing your application, you will be redirected to PayPal to make your annual membership payment. We have included the annual fees below:

  • Bereaved Parent = $10.00 per year.
  • Healthcare Professional = $15.00 per year
  • General Public = $15.00 per year  

3. Please note important information for Applicants.

  • If your application is accepted, your name and address, as provided, must be recorded in the register of members and be made available to other members, upon request, under section 27 of the Associations Incorporation Act.
  • If the obligations under the Associations Incorporation Act are not complied with the Association can be wound up.

  • If your application is accepted you are entitled to inspect and make a copy of the register of members under section 27 of the Associations Incorporation Act.
